Miss Independent...

Sienna definitely has her own mind. She is determined and very independent. She doesn’t want anyone to help her, she wants to figure out and do everything herself. This is all very good, I like a strong lady. She’s definitely not going to let anyone push her around. Love it!

Sports Fan…

Since the time Sienna was born, she has been attending the boys’ sporting events (basketball, soccer, baseball and football).  Justin’s Club Basketball has taken us up and down California and into Nevada. Sienna has been to almost every game. So of course, she’s a natural cheerleader and shouter. Below is a clip of her shouting at the boys and some pictures in various cities for tournaments.

Pearlie Whites...

Sienna is really a late bloomer in the teeth department. It wasn’t until 17 months when her first upper tooth broke through. Then within a month or so, its neighbor next to it broke through.  She has since broken some big molars, but we’re waiting for the others to follow suit. I’m sure they’ll all show up at some point, but they’ll definitely not be coming in by the textbook.

Vocab…

Sienna’s first word was “milk”. At first it wasn’t all that clear, but we could make it out. She first started saying this around 15 months of age. Following milk, were “mom”, “dad”, “ball”, “papa”, “mama”, “up”, “shoes”, “no”, “eye” and “iPad”. While she initially was too young to fully communicate, this girl understands EVERYTHING! She is too smart for her own good. As of the date of this post, her vocabulary has grown significantly and we hear a new word every day and has started putting together simple sentences within the past month. Last week, she introduced her grandparents to each other. She said, “Mama meet Papa”, as she expressed with her hands motioning to each when she said their name. She loves to talk to her brothers as well. She calls Justin “Juh Juh” and Davis “Day Day”. One of her favorite saying is “Enna do”, which means exactly that…that Enna can do it by herself. She is going to be quite the chatterbox with a lot of opinions, I’m sure.

Below are some pictures of her around this time...I love seeing the personality and her hair!

First Steps…

On December 20th, Sienna took her first steps. When I say first steps, I mean full on walking. For a few weeks leading up to this day, she would walk around holding onto edges of furniture or whatever she could for support. She would venture to let go here and there, but on this day she decided to go for it. Since then she has been nonstop and now into full fledge running mode.

Christmas 2011…

Here are a few pictures of the Sweetpea on Christmas Day and with some of her gifts. She was still too young to understand the whole concept of gifts and all. Looking forward to this coming Christmas, which she should really love. I’m so excited, I want to get started decorating in the next week or so. I have already started to create Christmas lists for the kids. The boys are easy since they are older now. Usually a big ticket item and of course…money!

Halloween 2011...

Since Sienna was just a teeny tiny Sweetpea last year, this year is officially her 1st dress up Halloween. She was Belle and looked beautiful. We took her to our neighborhood Halloween carnival and went trick or treating with the boys and the Miles family. While she was too young to actually trick or treat herself, next year will be her first for that. She had a good time anyway, just making the rounds with us.

First Birthday…

Sienna’s first birthday was celebrated here at home with close family. Since she was young and wouldn’t remember it anyway, we decided to keep it casual and low key. Unfortunately, I don’t have too many photos since she wasn’t feeling like herself that day. We initially thought she was probably overwhelmed by all the people and noise. But come to find out at her doctor’s appointment a couple of days later, she actually had ear infections in both ears. Our poor little Sweetpea, no wonder she wasn’t too happy and wasn’t too interested in it all, especially taking pictures. The last two pictures are a few days after seeing the doctor, you can see she's feeling better and back to herself.

First Real Trip…

In August 2011, we decided to take a real trip, like on an airplane, to go to New York City and Atlanta. Sweetpea was a dream traveler. We were a little worried that take offs and descents would hurt her ears or that the long trip crammed into a small space on a plane would be bothersome for Sienna. Fortunately, she was happy as can be. She smiled at everyone, wanted to bounce on our laps and wanted to be held. Vince and I would pass her back and forth to one another when our arms would get sore.  Thank goodness Sweetpea was so awesome because none of our flights were direct. They ALL had a stopover (with a change of plane – oh joy!).

While in NYC, our first day, we encountered rain. Hard rain. That didn’t keep us cooped in our hotel. We braved the rain like everyone else. Sweetpea wasn’t fazed at all. It was just a lot of work for us. Luckily, the weather improved and we had a great time being tourists.

Next stop, Atlanta to visit Uncle Jo, Joey and Amie. Since it was August, the weather was very HOT and HUMID. Again, Sienna stuck it out. While we tried to keep her in doors most of the time, we did watch a portion of Joey’s football game.  After probably an hour, if that, we decided the scorching heat was too match to handle, especially with the Sweetpea, so we went back to Uncle Jo’s.  Again we had a great time visiting and we can’t wait to go back again. Especially since Atlanta has a wonderful children’s museum that we brought the boys to when they were little and I’m sure Sienna would love as well.

Unfortunately, our flight home wasn’t as uneventful as our flight going out. On our flight from Atlanta to Denver, our little Sweetpea unfortunately had explosive poopie action happen. So explosive it shot out of her diaper, through her clothes and onto my shirt and shorts. In close quarters, such as a plane, there isn’t any way of masking that smell. Luckily, the guy next to me (who I remember telling me, “no worries, I have a small baby myself”) was super nice as I had to jump over him to get to the closet sized lavatory. I asked the flight attendant if there was a changing station anywhere and she informed me they did indeed have one…in the lavatory. Ok, this was the challenging part. Besides my baby and I both covered in poop, I then had to maneuver myself with a large diaper bag, holding Sienna in one arm and pull down the lid of the toilet and bring down the changing table that barely accommodated Sienna with the other arm. Then I had to change Sienna by myself, whom by this time was very frightened by being placed down  on a shelf they called a changing table,  in an extremely noisy and shaking lavatory. Luckily, I was able to manage, we all survived it and it’s now a story in her blog…
