Splitsville

I snapped this picture while we were watching Entertainment Tonight. This was Sienna's reaction when they were talking about Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' divorce...I kid you not. I think she really thought they would last...ha ha ha.

Funny Face

Even though Sweetpea can’t express herself with words just yet, she seems to understand everything. She is so playful and loves to make us all laugh. One of the amusing things she does is her “funny face”. Ask her to show you her “funny face” and this is what you’ll see…

Shirley Temple…

Remember this picture taken several months ago? Just a couple of little hair antennas, right? Well, it’s gone from this….

...to this in that short span of time!

She went from being a two curl girl to a straight out Shirley Temple! My little Sienna has a headful of beautiful curls. Not sure where she got it from, but it's absolutely adorable. God definitely checked all the “girly” boxes when making this sweet girl! Love her so much!!

DWTS (Dancing with the Sweetpea)…

Sienna has begun dancing now. Whenever she hears music or some type of beat, she’ll start to move to the groove. Last night we captured this video. Notice how she started off making her signature funny face while dancing, and then when she noticed she was being recorded, she stopped doing it. She’s so much fun!! I love the one arm up while swaying her hips and the footwork...so cute! And by the way, she can really shake it!! J

Like Father, Like Daughter…

All I have to say is that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Sweetpea knows how to get her point across, doesn’t she? J

Milestone Marker

I’ve been so busy this last month that I haven’t had the chance to post anything. (Sorry Sienna, mommy will be better about this going forward) Within the past month, Sienna has mastered crawling forward in addition to backwards, she can take small steps while holding onto something (she does this really well in her play pen) and can sit herself down from a crawling position. She also doesn’t mind playing in her play pen as long as someone is close to her.  In order to get someone’s attention, she’ll grunt at them. She’s gotten a lot better at eating solids as well (but she has to be in the mood, otherwise she keeps her mouth locked shut).
Below are her measurements from her well baby checkup on 8/2/11:
Weight: 22lbs, 8 oz, 94%
Height: 30 ½”, 99%
Head Circumference:  18 ¼”, 95%

Love it! – Part II

Below are some more proofs of Sienna’s photo session. Needless to say, I love them! I couldn’t be happier on how they turned out. These photos look like ads from a magazine. My Sweetpea looks so beautiful! J
This is how the session started out...

Love It!

Sienna had her photos taken professionally on Saturday. Since she isn’t accustomed to being around unfamiliar people and is now at the age where she's aware of her surroundings, I was hoping she wouldn’t freak out and cooperate with what we wanted her to do. Well, from the first pose, she freaked out. She didn’t want anything to do with getting her photo taken. About an hour into the session, she finally warmed up and became ok with the photographer and her evil black box (aka camera) in her face. Our photographer (by the way, who’s awesome) sent me a sneak peek just so I would know that she came away with some beautiful shots of Sweetpea…so good you wouldn’t even know that she cried her head off for the first hour or so… I’m so excited to see all the proofs very soon.
The funny part was whenever the photographer would say, “ok, I think we’re done” or something to the nature of the session being over, Sienna would give a huge smile and wave bye-bye. Another time, the photographer asked her to do a certain pose, and Sweetpea shook her head no. Our photographer thought that was so hilarious, she stated she’s never had a baby flat out deny her like that. That’s Sweetpea for you…she knows what she wants and doesn’t want to do.
Check out the 1st proof below. I  LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Makes me Happy…

I took this picture of Sienna this past weekend and I absolutely LOVE it! She’s turning into quite the little lady. I can see her transforming from a baby into this beautiful little girl. Every time I look at this photo, it just warms my heart and makes me so happy. And because of this, I had to post it on her blog.

Groupie…

Davis has always had a liking of the guitar. A few months ago, he began taking private lessons and over that short span he has gotten quite good. Apparently Sweetpea thinks so too, because she likes to listen to him practice on his acoustic and electric guitars. He can play the 1st chords to The Beatles’ “Day Tripper” and is starting to learn some Green Day songs.  At the rate, Davis is going; he’ll probably be in a band by the time he’s in high school.  And Sweetpea will be his 1st groupie!

Looks like she's dancing in this one...

Go Pumas!

Justin had a tournament this weekend and of course Sweetpea was there to cheer him and his team on. She was decked out in her bedazzled Pumas onesie - she has team spirit alright! All the little sisters of the team wear these shirts to the games and Sienna’s "uniform" was a gift from a fellow Pumas cheerleader – 4 year old Taylor.

Tastes Good?

I’m sure you’re all aware of KFC’s motto, “Finger lickin’ good”. Well Sienna’s motto is “Toe lickin’ good”! Sweetpea is quite flexible and is able to get her foot in her mouth (please don’t try this at home).  So I guess with teething and her ability to get her foot up, she’s combined the two by sucking on her toes! Pretty funny, huh?

Party of Five

This past weekend, we officially became a “party of 5” (at restaurants, that is!). Up until now, Sweetpea was too little to sit in a restaurant high chair by herself so she sat with either Vince or I. Well, that all changed a couple of days ago when we placed her in the restaurant’s high chair. She loved being able to sit on her own - in her own chair. Last night, we went to CPK and she wouldn’t stop bouncing in her seat she was so excited. She loved being able to look up and down the row to see what other people were doing and she would even turn around and listen to other people’s conversations.
She even did the “Itsy Bitsy Spider” with her hands while sitting there. If you didn’t know, since Sienna was a few months old, she loves to have someone sing the “Itsy Bitsy Spider” song to her while doing the hand movements. That song is a miracle song, it will stop her from crying, being fidgety in the car or distract her from something she shouldn’t have. Well, she’s heard and seen the hand movements for so long now, that every now and then, she’ll start doing the hand movements herself. She’s genius, I know! J

See..I wasn't kidding about the eavesdropping..

I think this is the "goes up the waterspout" part..

Adieu to Elementary School

Sweetpea attended Justin’s 6th grade graduation from elementary school yesterday. I remember Justino being a little munchkin just like Sienna. Now, he’s a young man, who will be starting middle school in the fall. Makes you realize that each day needs to be cherished because they grow up so fast. Before we know it, Sienna will be graduating herself…wait, I don’t want to think about that now, I just want to enjoy her being a little Sweetpea and all the enjoys and experiences that go along with that.
She didn't want to look up at the camera for some reason...super cute, anyway!

Stella

Stella is Sienna’s new friend.  She came to live with us about a month ago. Stella has something that Sienna isn’t familiar with…a pacifier! At first when Sienna saw it, she would grab it off of Stella’s mouth and throw it down on the ground. But after a while, I think she got curious and started to do something else with the pacifier instead. She decided to suck on it herself! So now, when Sienna plays with Stella, she immediately rips off the paci, inserts it in her own mouth and then starts to play with Stella’s hair. It’s all quite amusing!

Take me out to the ballgame…

Yesterday was Sweetpea’s 1st time to attend a baseball game (and a good one too!). We went to see the Angels vs. Yankees. Our friend invited us to the game as a surprise for her husband’s 40th birthday. We had a great time!
M – if you’re reading this, thanks again for inviting our clan. The kids thought the suite was sweet! And anytime your mom needs a baby girl fix, Sienna is available! J

Mini Shopaholic…

If you know me, you know that I love to shop. So obviously, when I dreamed of having a girl, I was hoping she would be the same way…well, I think it came true (I’m so happy!!).  Sweetpea likes being out at the mall and has no problem if I want to try things on her like bows, sunglasses, hats, etc. As young as she is, she knows what she likes. When I show her something, she’ll either look at it and look away (which means she’s not too interested) or will start bouncing, smiling and trying to reach for it (uh, yeah…she loves it). J

New Thing...

Sienna's new thing is sticking out her tongue from the corner of her mouth. She loves to do this! She also likes to vibrate her lips together which produces a nice spray mist of saliva! : ) I'll tell her "Noooo, Sienna - you're wetting me" and she'll smile and nod her head from side to side, just like I did when I was telling her no. She's just too cute!!

Update on the Sweetpea…

On May 17th, Sienna had her well baby check-up and the girl is tall! She measures 28 ¾” inches long (98% percentile, folks) and weighs 20 lbs. (91% percentile). Dr. Wong said she’s very healthy and meets all of her developmental milestones.  Sienna loves to play on her own and can now stand up for about 20 seconds while holding onto the sofa before she plops herself down.

Sienna does something that I haven’t seen or I should say heard any other baby do before. When she’s sleepy, she makes a continuous grunting noise and increases the pitch steadily. It’s really funny to hear. Her grunting is always a true indicator that she’s about to knock out within 20 minutes or so.  Sometimes she and I have a “grunt off” which means I try to egg her on by mimicking her grunts and in which case she tries to outdo me.  It’s hilarious! This little Sweetpea definitely has a personality emerging.

Growing up…

Within the past several weeks, Sweetpea has mastered sitting up and rolling over. She loves to roll in all different directions now and does so with such ease. She loves to sit up on her own and play with her toys. She’s able to grasp objects with both hands and transfer them easily between the two. She also likes to use her feet to move items either away or to herself. I’ve never seen a child do that before! She loves to grab her dolly Emily, squeeze and turn the pages of her soft books, pick up items from her picnic basket and see her “cell phone” light up and listen to the sounds it makes. I sit Sienna on my lap when I’m applying my makeup and she sits there intently trying to take all the items out of the makeup bag and throw them down. This made me realize that she needs a purse of her own, which I ordered this week for her. She’s quite the little lady!! J

Where is the text messaging button on this?

She's really busy!

Gone Bananas…

I gave Sweetpea bananas yesterday for the 1st time thinking she would love it. Instead I think she went bananas, she kept sticking her tongue out and smiling. She didn’t really want to eat them; she just wanted to play with the food instead. Up until this point she’s only eaten vegetables and has liked them and eaten them in a lady like fashion. This time she was just crazy…or bananas!
