Seat Upgrade…

This weekend Sweetpea got a seat upgrade…car seat that is. In her old car seat/infant carrier, she would cry.  She would immediately want to get out. But with her new big girl car seat, she is content as can be. Every time she is in it, not a peep out of her. Vince would ask, “Are you feeding her now?” or “Is she sleeping?”, because she was so quiet.  I think she likes that 1) she’s high enough to look out the window, 2) the seat is bigger and very cushiony and 3) she doesn’t have a canopy over her, which would trap the heat in her previous car seat. At this young age, she already loves the upgrades!

Seems like she's having a good time!

Yummy for the Tummy…

Sweetpea started rice cereal 2 weeks ago. She is getting the hang of actually keeping it in her mouth and not automatically pushing it out with her tongue. I think she’s probably actually swallowing about 75% of what is being spooned in. She seems to like it. Next week, we’ll try some other solids (if you can call them that), such as green vegetables. We’ll see how that goes over… her face and clothes, most likely. J

Toe Touches…

Sweetpea is ready for gymnastics! Yup, at only 5 months old, she’s able to do toe touches! For the last several days, she’s been putting her legs straight up in the air and grabbing onto her feet. She also loves to put everything in her mouth nowadays, so I think her toes will be next…yum! J

Roll it baby…

I’m told Sweetpea can roll over by herself now, but for some reason she just won’t show me.  I’ve tried for the last couple of days and received the same result both times. At first when I put her down, she just lays flat on her back, looking at me in a way to say, “ok, now what do you want me to do”?

After a little coaxing, she’ll start to put one leg over the other, but will stop there. So then, I thought to put her on her tummy to get her to roll over. Uh, nope – that didn’t work. Instead she decides to push off her knees and feet to propel forward. One thing is for sure, you can’t make Sweetpea do something she doesn’t want to do!! She definitely does things on her own terms.

Yup, I'm still here...

Seriously...
Happy that daddy saved her!

Two Curl Girl…

Sweetpea wasn’t born with much hair to begin with, but now she has even less. I think it’s due to her pulling her hair on the left side and by turning her head side to side when sleeping. Anyhow, with what little hair she does have, there is a curl on each side of her head. It’s so cute! It looks like little antennas on both sides! I hope that the curl remains as her hair grows, but for now, she’s just a two curl girl!

1st BFF...

Emily is Sweetpea’s 1st doll. And just so you know, Emily is the name she came with, I didn’t name her. At first, Sienna didn’t want much to do with Emily, but now she loves her. Sienna will grab her necklace, tug on her rings and squeeze her dress and face. Emily’s dress is made with a crunchy material inside, so I think Sienna likes the feel and sound of that. Emily is just the 1st of many BFFs Sienna will have!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, she bites her too! I'm sure she won't do that to all her friends!

Mini Basketball Fan in the Making…

“Sweetpea” loves to watch basketball already. All the buzzards, whistle blowing, ball dribbling, shouting fans (including me) doesn’t bother her in the least. I kind of think she finds it soothing, so much so, that she’ll fall asleep sometimes. But if she’s awake, she’ll sit still and watch the boys run up and down the court intently. At times, she’ll get really excited and start to kick out her legs and thrust her arms. I call her “the cheerleader”; her and I clap and cheer on the boys at their games.

Sweetpea's 1st Game @ 2 months old.

Watching closely at Justin's practice. (Yes, she even attends practices!)
The cheerleader waiting for the game to start!
She’ll even watch it on television! I guess being in a house with 3 boys (dad and two brothers) she doesn’t have much choice, huh?
I’m sure she’ll end up playing some type of sport herself. Her dad thinks basketball or tennis. That’s fine with me, just as long as it doesn’t conflict with her ballet classes and recitals. What can I say, that’s part of the fun having a girl! J

I’m officially a blogger now…

Today my baby girl, Sienna Madeleine Rose (aka “Sweetpea” by me) is 5 months old. Gee, I can’t believe how fast time goes by. I just want it to slow down a bit so I can fully appreciate the stages of her life. This made me realize that I needed to document her milestones, daily achievements, her explorations and just the super cute things she does in some type of manner. Everyone will tell you (especially my husband) that I’m not the blogger type, but this is just a great way to capture and memorialize her childhood experiences. The main reason for my blog is because I don’t want to forget. As she and her two brothers, Justin and Davis, grow up, these memories will start to fade in my mind, so I want a well put together record of her childhood. I wish this had been around when my boys were little (or maybe it was and I just didn’t know about it).
Anyhow, after 5 years of trying (and a big age gap between baby and her brothers), Vince and I finally received our beautiful baby girl!  Sweetpea Sienna completes our family of 5 and is just a true sweetheart! She is just wonderful and so loveable. She is everything I could ever want and more!! She has a smile that instantly creates a sense of happiness in me. We are all just in love with her!
I wish I had started this blog when Sienna was born, but since I didn’t, here are some of her stats:
Born on Friday, October 8th, 2010 at 1:28am – after 16 ½ hours of labor (thank you!). She weighed 6 lbs., 15 oz., and was 19 inches long.
Started sleeping through the night (8+ hours consecutively) at 6 weeks! We’re so lucky! J
At her last doctor’s appointment on February 18th, she weighed 16 ½ lbs and was 26 inches long (98% percentile!). From the looks of it, she’s going to be tall! Thank goodness, she didn’t receive my short genes! J
